Broward County Navy League installs officers aboard ship

The Navy League Outstanding Council Award is presented

The Broward County, FL, Council of the Navy League installed their 2009 slate of officers aboard the Carnival Freedom at Pier 19 in Port Everglades on January 17, 2009. The cocktail reception and installation of officers commenced at 11:30AM. The invocation was given by Father Thomas Falkenthal, Director of Pastoral Care Seafarers' House. The installing officer and keynote speaker was Brigadier General David C. Garza USMC, Chief of Staff , United States Southern Command. After praising the good work being performed by the Broward County Navy League and some humorous comments on his career in the Marine Corps, he installed the 2009 slate of officers. The new officers are:

President William Weiler made our First Director Emeritus presentation, to long time director Mark Stein. The 2007 Navy League of the United States Outstanding Council award was presented to Past President Robert N. Hein. President Weiler then commented on the council activities, out successes and the direction he plans to take the council in 2009.
