Broward County Council

On Wednesday, April 25, 2007, Broward County Navy League Board Member and Sea Cadet Commander Alan Starr gave an inspired keynote address at the Tamarac Veterans Day Assembly.  The annual assembly is designed to raise awareness of the military services -- past and present -- as well as to inform and advertise key benefits available to local veterans.  Members of the medical community, VA hospital staff, insurance carriers, and various military leagues passed out flyers and information pertaining to service veterans.  Four members of Mr. Starr's Sea Cadet Corps presented the colors to open the ceremony.  Mayor Beth Flansbaum-Talabisco, Vice Mayor Marc Sultanoff, and various city commissioners made brief statements to the crowd at the Tamarac Community Center.  Subsequently, Mr. Starr's keynote address, entitled "Military Buddies," stressed the lifetime of camaraderie and companionship that develops while serving in the Armed Forces.  Fellow Navy League members Bill Weiler, Don Bannister, Anita Carmell, and Brian Kling were also in attendance.
