Broward County Council

May 8, 2008 Dinner Meeting

The Council had quite a treat during its May social - Dr. Edgar Mitchell, retired Navy Captain and former astronaut, was the guest speaker. As the Lunar Module Commander on Apollo 14, Dr. Mitchell was the sixth man to walk on the moon. He has published several books and now travels extensively speaking of his experiences.

The Stranahan High School Marine Corps JROTC color guard presented the colors.  The Council honored two of the cadets:  Edgar Butler received the Teddy Roosevelt Medal and Battalion Commander Akieme Leachman was awarded the Broward County Council Scholarship (20).

The color guard from the MJROTC at Stranahan High School was also in attendance.
