Broward County Council

 

On May 1, 2006, the official greeting for Fleet Week 2006 was held at Jazziz in the Paradise Shops at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.  Following the official greeting, the All Hands on Deck party was held in the courtyard of the Paradise Shops.  Broward County Council members assisted at both events as well as enjoyed the delicious food and drinks provided at Jazziz.   Visiting this year were the USS San Antonio, USS Shreveport, USS San Jacinto, USS Hampton, USS Oscar Austin, USCGC Elm, HMCS Preserver and HMCS Halifax.  Special recognition was given to the sailors of the year from each of the visiting ships.  Council members were pleased to have the Elm visit as its commander, Tony Powell, is a friend to many from his days as commander at Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale.
