Broward County Council

On June 24, 2006, Broward Navy Days hosted its annual Freedom Awards luncheon onboard the Caribbean Princess.  Council member and board member LCDR Alan Starr was honored for his role as commanding officer of the Spruance Division of the Sea Cadet Corps.  Also honored were Tom Powers, chairman of Angel Flight, and Paul O'Neill of the US Naval Institute Foundation.  Sea Cadet Jessica Vance was recognized for her outstanding achievements, including being selected National Sea Cadet of the Year.  Jessica and fellow cadet Tim Nasta (both who have been part of the color guard for the past few years) left for the U S Naval Academy the next day.  The guest speaker was Vice Admiral Mark D. Fitzgerald, Commander, U S Second Fleet.  After the ceremonies, the guests enjoyed a wonderful lunch in the ship's dining room.
