On September 14, 2006, the Council
celebrated the Sea Cadets Birthday with the assistance of the Spruance
Division Sea Cadets. Alan Starr served as MC for the evening in the
absence of Council President Joe Giambrone. It was obvious that Alan is
extremely proud of all of his cadets. Father Tom Falkenthal, the new
Director of the Seafarer's House, gave the benediction and introduced himself
to the crowd. Five of the Sea Cadets spent time talking about their
training experiences over the summer months. Joining us at the dinner
social were: PO1 Christopher Williams, PO2 Brad Barrett, PO3 Marcus
Quintana, SN Ryan McDaniel and PO3 Brandon Wasicsko. The cadets were
very entertaining and the members thoroughly enjoyed hearing about their
adventures. Everyone was amazed at how comfortable each cadet
seemed to be while they stood before the audience and told their stories -
without notes! We knew at the end of the night why Alan was so proud of
them. The Council was also pleased to present Jerry and Kristen Corcoran
with their community affiliate plaque.
