Broward County Council

On October 14, 2006, the Fort Lauderdale Council held the dedication ceremony for their Lone Sailor project at the Riverwalk at Esplanade Park in Fort Lauderdale.  The colors were presented by the United States Southern Command Joint Armed Forces Color Guard.  Pat and Dolph Du Mont were the joint chairpersons for the project and made the introductions of the various dignitaries.  On hand were Rear Admiral Harry B. Harris, Jr., USN, Commander, Joint Task Force, Guantanamo; Honorable E. Clay Shaw, Jr., House of Representatives and Honorable Jim Naugle, Mayor, City of Fort Lauderdale.  Fort Lauderdale Council President, Mary Minnet, made the official presentation of the Lone Sailor statute to the City of Fort Lauderdale.
