Broward County Council

In late October, the Hope Relief Food Bank was robbed of all the food it had collected for the Thanksgiving holiday.  Our community affiliate, Briny’s Irish Pub, stepped up to the plate and offered their assistance.  On November 20, 2008, Briny’s offered their location so the Fraternal Order of Leatherhead Society could collect canned goods.  Information went out on TV and email offered Briny’s famous buffet to anyone who brought 10 cans of food.  Fifteen cans got the person the buffet plus a free drink.  A $100 drink tab was given to the person who brought the most canned goods.  Members of the Council helped the cause and joined the other generous individuals for a fun night at Briny’s.  Several of our new members (Patti and Ken Fritz and Debbie and Sal Giardina) even joined in the festivities.  The goal was to fill a trailer with the food; we’re not sure if that was accomplished but we all had a lot of fun participating.
