Broward County Council members raised funds to aid with with commissioning of Coast Guard Cutter Diamondback

Over a 10-day period in January, members of the Broward Council Board members, under the direction of Al and Shelly Stein, raised funds in support of the commissioning of the CSCGC Diamondback (WPB 87370). Diamondback was commissioned on January 17, 2009.

Using the Cooper City Wal-mart Store as their collection point, the board members solicitied donations for used books for the cutter's crew library, sold "Support the Troops" memorvilia and passed out Navy League material.Three hundred dollars were raised and the funds went towards helping defray the cost of the cutter's commissioning.
