Broward County, Fl Council of the Navy League of the United States

 At the Navy League of the United States National Convention in Corpus Christi, TX in late October, recognition was brought to the South Florida Area. The  Navy League of the United States, Broward County, Fl Council  won one of eleven Outstanding Council Awards. More than 250 councils worldwide competed. This is the second year in a row the Broward County, FL Council won this prestigous award. They won third place in the 2008 Public Relations Recognition Award in the medium sized council category.

The Navy League was founded in 1902 with the money President Theodore Roosevelt was awarded when he won the Nobel Peace Prize. He founded the
Navy League of the United States to support the Sea Services, which consist of the Navy, Marines,Coast Guard and Merchant Marines and their families. He would be proud to know that today there are over 250 councils.. The only requirement for membership is a desire to support the sea services.

Receiving the award for Outstanding Council was Broward County Council President Bill Weiler and receiving the award for Public Relations and
Publicity was National Representative Robert N. Hein.
