Giambrone elected South Florida Area President

Joseph Giambrone has been elected president for the South Florida Area, Navy League of the United States.  Prior to his recent promotion, he served as vice president for the South Florida Area as well as a National Director for the Navy League.  As Area President, he will oversee the operations of the seven councils from West Palm Beach to Key West.

He was sworn in to his new position recently at the National Convention in Corpus Christi, Texas.  The five-day event attracted approximately 300 members and guests from around the world.  One of the highlights of the convention was the Sea Services Awards Luncheon where 18 Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine military and civilian personnel received highly coveted awards for outstanding service, particularly while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan in support of the war on terrorism. 

The Navy League consists of 253 councils worldwide with a total membership of approximately 55,000 members. Florida has 23 Navy League Councils throughout the state and approximately 5,000 members. It is a civilian organization dedicated to informing the American people and their government that the United States of America is a maritime nation and that its national defense and economic well-being are dependent upon a strong sea services -- United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, and United States Merchant Marine. 

Mr. Giambrone is a member of the Broward County Council of the Navy League.  He has served as the Council president and is currently on their board of directors.  He also is a member of the Navy League’s Pacific Merchant Marine Council.  He serves on the board of the Florida Chapter of Operation Homefront which has partnered with the Navy League to provide assistance to military families. He is retired and resides with his wife in Weston.
